I go through phases with liqueurs. You might call them periods of obsession where my first inclination in any drink I set out to create is invariably to marry it with that. Such was the case with Benedictine after a liberal consumption of Vieux Carre’s inspired me to make a different kind of rye cocktail, turning out the “Problem Solver” (recipe to follow). I’m still fairly certain that name is going to get me in trouble eventually.
Now, as is true with any obsession you must cut it off early lest it consume you. When I started thinking about making Benedictine cotton candy (someone make this happen for me) I knew it was time to step away, but not before turning out the “Pantorium”. I’m not taking the time to explain the name here, it would bore you but I sincerely hope the drink will not.

Problem Solver
2oz Sazerac Rye
1/2oz Cherry Heering
1/4oz Benedictine
Stir and serve Up in a glass rinsed with Fernet Branca.
Lemon Zest to garnish
Pantorium
3/4oz Small’s Gin
3/4oz Lime Juice
3/4oz Benedictine
3/4oz St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Shaken and served Up
